This puzzle is one of the toys that my toddler pulls out a lot to play with. He has been using this since he was 18 months old. We have had it for a few months now. It is very well made and durable. No peeling paint and no sharp edges. The pieces fit easily and little ones don't have to struggle to fit them. The fat knobs are just the right size for little hands to hold properly. My toddler surprises everybody by pointing out all kinds of shapes like octagon stop sign or diamond road sign after getting so familiar with them from this puzzle. This is a must have in every house with toddlers!

I've been hesitant about ordering Melissa and Doug puzzles as it seems many customers have had issues with the puzzle paint chipping off. This happened to us with one of their basic shape puzzles, which we returned. However, we have not had any issue with this farm puzzle. The images are nice and the puzzle pieces have taken a lot of play from our 1 year old...and the puzzle still looks good. Not sure why some are hit or miss. If it helps, we ordered the farm one from Amazon and the shapes one (which chipped) we got at Target.

This puzzle keeps my daughter hooked every day for ten minutes and the sense of accomplishment she feels every time she fits them correctly is so fulfilling to watch. It took her a couple days to get it, after which she has been fascinated about fitting the pieces back in. I love the jumbo knob idea.. it is so easy for her to hold with either hands. The bonus is how much the toy attracts her friends.. who are a little close to two years, over two years and three years. Even the three year old kid has been engaged with this toy longer than I expected. A great toy for ages suggested.

We bought this for my son last christmas. He has had it for 10 months. During that time he has thrown, stepped on, dropped, and 'hidden' all the pieces. And they still look like new. This past couple months he has suddenly wanted to use them for their intended purpose...As a puzzle. He Loves this puzzle. He asks "What's that?" for each shape, then does his best to repeat what shape it is. The name of each shape is written on the puzzle piece. On top of that, it helps work with colors. My son (2 years old) now plays with this at least once a day. As a puzzle. It's made of wood, hand crafted, sturdy, bright, and it keeps a toddler's attention. We have a couple different 'Doug & Melissa" puzzles and they're all made wonderfully, but this one is my son's favorite.

My baby loves this puzzle so very much. She has had it for months now and it is challenging enough for her at 18 months. The pegs are fantastic for little hands and she will play with these peg puzzles before she goes for any other kind. We love the farm theme as a family so this fits well. It also helps when it comes to naming things and making sounds with baby. Don't forget to sing "Old McDonald" with your toddler while playing this! My only wish was that this held up better when it gets wet, from sippy cup spills! The lamenant on it peels up something fierce!

Love Melissa & Doug. I took this puzzle, edited (via cropping) photos of family members, and modpodged them into the shapes so when my daughter opens the shape, she seems family. I gave this to her for Christmas (she was 11-months at the time) and she loved it. Two months later she knows where the family is located and is learning the shapes. This puzzle allowed me to put a little creativity and make it more unique.

Not only does my son love Melissa & Doug toys, but he also loves farms! So when I saw this puzzle, I knew I had to get it for my son who was 18 mo at the time. He loves this puzzle. He would do it over and over again. The knobs make the pieces easy to hold in his little hands, the animals fit into their respective spots easily without causing him any unnecessary frustration. Not only does it work on his fine motor skills of completing a puzzle, but we also use it as a tool to work on his vocabulary words. High recommend for those of you with children just starting to show interest in puzzles.

When I decided to introduce my kids to puzzles at around 16 months, I wanted something simple, safe, and educational. This fit the bill, and has been a wonderful toy that my kids seem to enjoy more and more. I like that each of the pieces will only fit in its own space - a simple idea, but a flaw I have found with many puzzles on the market. The pieces are hefty and durable, and the knobs are easy for my kids to handle. My kids are still in the habit of chewing on toys occasionally, and I've noticed just a little bit of peeling of the color on the pieces - if your child really gnaws on his/her toys still, this may not be the right toy yet. My kids have learned the basic concept of a puzzle from this toy, and they get so excited every time they get a shape in the right hole. I use the puzzle to reinforce/teach shapes, colors, and the concept of "matching" and "turning" pieces until they fit.

Our son is almost 17 months and really likes this puzzle. He's enjoyed playing with it off/on for months (especially clapping two pieces together) but now can actually get the pieces in by himself and claps like crazy when he gets it in. Pretty cute! The colors are accurate between the piece and the puzzle, and it seems pretty well-made. Compared to other Melissa & Doug wooden items (magnets, other puzzles) this has held up better to the occasional putting it in his mouth. He also, I think, puts it in his mouth less than those due to the bigger width and giant pegs - I think it's less inviting for chewing to him. I highly recommend. It'll be fun for when we actually start talking shapes and colors more, but for now it's great for fine motor skills, rewarding persistence, etc.

This puzzle is simply wonderful! My 15 month old got it for Christmas, now at 18 months she is able to do the puzzle easily by herself. I love that it has the post in the middle of the pieces, it makes it so easy for her to pick up the pieces and maneuver them to the open slots. The only down side, there does seem to be a lot of what I'm assuming to be saw dust/wood particles that will fill the slots. Not a huge deal, usually once every few days I will blow it out and move on.
